LAS VEGAS (AP) - An attorney for former University Medical Center CEO Lacy Thomas is trying to get the Clark County district attorney's office thrown off Thomas' corruption case.
Thomas is accused of using his position at the county-run hospital to steer lucrative contracts to friends.
His attorney says the district attorney's office has a conflict of interest because the office used to advice Thomas on legal matter.
Lawyer Daniel Albregts wants a special prosecutor assigned to the case.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Scott Mitchell disputes Albregts' claims. He says county attorneys provide limited legal advice to county officials and don't have an "attorney-client" relationship.
A hearing on the matter is scheduled for June 16.
