LAS VEGAS (AP) - Throngs of bikers are descending on the Arizona-Nevada border town of Laughlin this weekend for what promoters call the largest ride-in motorcycle rally in the West.

As many as 75,000 motorcycle enthusiasts were expected for the 26th annual Laughlin River Run.

Las Vegas police have a large presence in Laughlin and the surrounding area for the weekend festivities.

River Run safety has been a priority since 2002. That's when a melee between Hells Angels and rival Mongols motorcycle gang members left three bikers dead and numerous others injured.

Police spokesman Sgt. John Loretto says this year's rally has been very quiet.

As of late Friday, seven people had been arrested on felonies and seven for driving under the influence. Most arrests and citations involved minor traffic violations.
