The largest opening night crowd in the Rodeo's 90-year history watched Colin McTaggart of Las Vegas win the competition. McTaggart took home $11,366 (plus ground money) of the $14 thousand purse.

RENO, Nev. --- More than six thousand people turned the Xtreme Bulls into a record-setting night at the Reno Rodeo.

The largest opening night crowd in the Rodeo's 90-year history watched Colin McTaggart of Las Vegas win the competition. McTaggart took home $11,366 (plus ground money) of the $14 thousand purse.

McTaggart won on the strength of an 85-point ride in the first round.

For the most part, bulls dominated the competition. No other bull riders with a qualified ride in the long round made the whistle in the finals.

Xtreme Bulls results:

First Round: 1, Colin McTaggart, 85 points on Western Rodeos’ Rough And Ready, $4,251; 2, Jarrod Ford, 83, $3,259; 3, Casey Baize, 82.5, $2,409; 4, Marcus Michaelis, 79.5, $1,559; 5, Joe Meling, 75.5, $992; 6, Jordan Hooten, 75, $709 (seventh- and eighth-place ground monies were split among qualified rides).

Short Round: 1, Tyler Johnston, 88 points on Don Kish’s West Coast Offense, $2,740 (and the ground money).

Average: 1, Colin McTaggart, 85, $7,085; 2, Jarrod Ford, 83, $5,432; 3, Casey Baize, 82.5, $4,015; 4, Marcus Michaelis, 79.5, $2,598; 5, Joe Meling, 75.5, $1,653; 6, Jordan Hooten, 75, $1,181 (seventh- and eighth-place ground monies were split among qualified rides).
