Local Cowboy Shines
Reno Cowboys and Cowgirls from all over the country will be competing in the Reno Rodeo for 10 days. With any luck local audiences will be able to cheer on a local boy. Keep an eye out for Fallon’s Jade Corkill.

It's the face of concentration and determination. Even if the cow is plastic, Jade Corkill tries to capture the back feet every time.
As a kid Corkill mom says Jade ate, slept, and drank team roping.
“To tell you the truth when I was little I use to rope goats all of the time. I got to where it was just so much fun roping the goats and stuff,” says Corkill
It didn't take long for Jade to move up to cows. In team roping he's known as the heeler, the guy that has to rope the back of the legs, while his partner, Chad Master ropes the cows neck.
“It takes two guys and its kind of cool you know cause if I come through that means he wins too. Chad, he counts on me to make his living and I count on him to make my living,” says Corkill
In 2006 Jade was named Rookie of the Year. Last year he placed second in the National Finals Rodeo. He won this truck and trailer in March. But there's one award that's eluded him, the Silver Spurs at the Reno Rodeo.
Will 2009 be Jade's year at the Wildest, Richest Rodeo, in the West? Stay Tuned.
You can catch Jade’s first competition at the Reno Rodeo this Saturday.
We’ll be giving away free tickets to the Rodeo as well as a limited edition Reno Rodeo Belt Buckle.
