CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago-area woman is suing a suburban traffic cop for allegedly using a speeding ticket he issued to her to track her down and ask her out on a date.

Evangelina Paredes filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Chicago accusing Stickney police officer Chris Collins of violating her privacy rights.

The lawsuit says Collins pulled Paredes over on Oct. 22 in the village just southwest of Chicago.

Two days later, she found a hand-written note on her windshield
allegedly from Collins saying he couldn't stop thinking about her. The note adds apologetically that since her speeding fine was $132, the least he could do was to buy her dinner.

Collins told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he hadn't yet hired an attorney and couldn't comment.

Apparently used private info from the ticket to track her down. That is stalking, and probably a violation of internal policy.
