The last place you may expect to find a veteran is in a cooking class. But that’s exactly what’s going on at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System—otherwise known as the Veterans Hospital in Reno. Men from all branches of the service attend these classes as they are fighting the battle of the bulge.
Local Veterans Hospital workers are busy trying to recreate a dental clinic recently shut down at a South Virginia Street location. The clinic opened with much fanfare last August and is now back at the main hospital. The decision was not made lightly, as patients and personnel’s health was at stake.
An inspection of the facility that is privately-owned, but leased by the US Government, revealed multiple environmental and safety concerns within the larger warehouse structure containing the VA clinic, according to the Veterans Administration.
