LAS VEGAS (AP) - Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh has pledged $1 million to help bring promising recent college graduates to downtown Las Vegas.
Hsieh said Monday that he would partner with Venture for America to bring at least 100 promising young people to the area during the next five years. The fellows will work with Hsieh's Downtown Project, which is supporting startups, small businesses and real estate development in Sin City's decaying downtown.
Hsieh has also pledged $350 million of his fortune to the downtown revitalization effort.
The online-retail titan said the seven Venture for America fellows the Downtown Project hosted this year had been "great at rolling up their sleeves" and getting involved with the area.
He said he was also looking to recruit Las Vegas natives for the project.
