LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities in Las Vegas say a construction worker was taken to the hospital after falling about 130 feet near the MGM Grand casino marquee.
Officer Lawrence Hadfield said police were alerted to the fall about 9:40 a.m. Wednesday. The worker was taken to University Medical Center, but neither Hadfield nor hospital officials provided an update on his condition.
Firefighters say he fell on landscaping, which broke his fall.
Police say the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be responsible for investigating the incident.
MGM Resorts International spokeswoman Yvette Monet says a contract crew was on site upgrading the casino's large marquee sign at the time of the fall. It wasn't immediately clear whether work had stopped as a result of the accident.
