NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - The director of a donation center for a Las Vegas-area women's shelter has been fired after his arrest on suspicion of trying to coerce a woman into sex acts.

SafeNest spokeswoman Lisa Lynn Chapman says Benedetto Vitale was fired Friday after the nonprofit received an official crime report from the North Las Vegas Police Department.

The 59-year-old Vitale is accused of trying to coerce a 24-year-old woman into sex acts in return for signing off on her court-ordered community service.

He was arrested Tuesday on charges of felony lewdness, forgery and sexually-motivated coercion after the woman reported the July 22 encounter.

SafeNest, which helps domestic violence victims, is investigating whether there are other alleged victims.

Chapman says Vitale's position did not involve interaction with any victims of domestic violence.
