LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 31-year-old Las Vegas woman accused of killing her pregnant sister-in-law and the unborn child has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.
Elinor Malansing Indico entered the plea Monday after she was indicted earlier this month on murder, voluntary manslaughter and child abuse charges. A trial is set for Jan. 21.
Prosecutors say Indico stabbed 26-year-old Ashley Indico to death Oct. 16 after being asked to move out of their apartment.
Officials say Ashley Indico's 5-year-old son was present and summoned help from a neighbor.
Deputy Public Defender Norm Reed said previously that the case looks like self-defense. Indico has stomach wounds that she told police she received when she fought Ashley Indico for the knife.
