LAS VEGAS (AP) - Firefighters say a woman has died after being pulled from a burning Las Vegas condominium.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski says crews responded about noon Wednesday to the home on Melody Rose Avenue.
The woman was unresponsive when she was found and was taken to University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Szymanski said she was in her early 60s, but her name and exact age haven't been made public.
Firefighters say the woman's dog also died. American Red Cross is assisting her roommate, who was not at the condo at the time.
Investigators say the blaze was apparently an accident caused by careless smoking. Damage is estimated at $60,000.
