LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas woman took the witness stand in her defense and told a Nevada jury she didn't conspire with her brother and her son to kill her estranged husband for the insurance money.
Amy Bessey became the only witness in her defense Monday in Clark County District Court. Closing arguments are expected Tuesday.
Bessey's testimony came after her lawyer, Blaine Beckstead, told jurors the prosecution hasn't proved its case.
Bessey faces seven felony charges including conspiracy and attempted murder in the November 2012 shooting that wounded Robert Bessey as he drove on Interstate 15.
Prosecutors allege Amy Bessey enlisted her ex-convict brother, Richard Pearson, and her son, Michael Bessey, for the deed.
Pearson and Michael Bessey were arrested shortly afterward. They're due for trial together in February.
