LAS VEGAS (AP) - Health officials say it's likely that mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus are present throughout the Las Vegas area.
The Southern Nevada Health District says mosquitoes infected with West Nile have been identified in the 89107 zip code west of downtown Las Vegas.
They say West Nile probably isn't limited to that area of Las Vegas.
Nevada is among a handful of states that have seen relatively little West Nile virus this year. No human cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Clark County so far this year.
Nationwide, West Nile infection rates are on record pace this year. The virus has killed more than 40 people across the U.S.
