LAS VEGAS (AP) - A witness video shows federal land management police and a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper scuffling with a 20-year-old man before shooting him dead during a confrontation on a road outside Las Vegas.
The recording obtained and posted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal shows D'Andre Berghardt Jr. of Los Angeles trying to get into an NHP vehicle before he was shot and killed about noon Friday on State Route 159 near Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
The video appears to show a Bureau of Land Management ranger squirting Berghardt with pepper spray with little effect, and a witness tells the Review-Journal that an officer used a Taser stun gun before Berghardt was shot.
Witnesses say Berghardt was seen earlier, wheeling a rolling suitcase on the shoulder of the road.
