LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Utah mom says her newlywed daughter faces ongoing medical treatment in Salt Lake City after she was stabbed in the back in what authorities are calling a random attack on four tourists on a sidewalk just off the Las Vegas Strip.
Diane Stock said Monday that her 20-year-old daughter, Laralynn Stock Caldwell, is in good spirits but faces ongoing tests to rule out the possibility of blood-borne disease following her injury late Thursday.
The accused attacker, 53-year-old Lee Anthony Sanford, surrendered to police at a fast food restaurant minutes after the 11 p.m. Thursday attacks on Harmon Avenue.
Sanford is jailed pending a court appearance Tuesday on multiple battery with a deadly weapon charges.
Police say Sanford had no prior connection to the people he's accused of attacking.
