LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say the uncle of a 21-year-old man already facing charges has been arrested in a southern Nevada freeway shooting that appeared to be a random drive-by, but that investigators say stemmed from a murder plot hatched over a bitter divorce.
Las Vegas police say 39-year-old ex-convict Richard William Pearson was arrested Wednesday in southwest Las Vegas.
Pearson had been sought following the arrest of Michael Bessey in the the Nov. 14 shooting that wounded his stepfather, Robert Bessey, as he drove on Interstate 15 about 30 miles north of downtown Las Vegas.
Police said last month that Robert Bessey underwent surgery and was recovering with physical therapy.
Police say Robert Bessey was divorcing Amy Bessey. She has not been arrested or charged in the case.
