LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas couple has been sentenced for neglect of an elderly person after prosecutors say a person drowned at their unlicensed group home.

The Nevada Attorney General announced Tuesday that 44-year-old Leni Alston and her 38-year-old husband, William Alston, were ordered to community service, probation and $40,000 in restitution.

Investigators say the couple owned a licensed group home that was previously cited for having too many residents. Officials say the population there had once again swelled, growing to five when it should have been capped at two, and the Alstons were keeping other residents at their house.

Authorities say a resident who was staying at their home drowned in their pool, which didn't have a fence as required of a group home.
