LAS VEGAS (AP) - Two people are dead and two people are injured after an overnight fire in the northwest part of Las Vegas.

Firefighters say they got several calls just before midnight Thursday about a burning house on Empire Rock Street. That's near Iron Mountain Road and U.S. 95.

Officials say two people who had escaped the house told neighbors that two other people were still inside the home. Their bodies were discovered early in the morning.

Firefighters say the two people who survived were taken to the hospital with burns and smoke inhalation.

Neighbors tell KVVU-TV the survivors were the residents of the home, and the two people who died had been visiting from out of town.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
