LAS VEGAS (AP) - Gov. Brian Sandoval has proclaimed Tuesday "Sheriff Ralph Lamb Day" in conjunction with the premier of the CBS drama "Vegas" that was inspired by the former Clark County sheriff.

Lamb was the sheriff from 1961 to 1979. He'll be honored during a party at Green Valley Ranch on Tuesday when former Nevada Gov. and U.S. Sen. Richard Bryan will make the presentation.

Sheriff Doug Gillespie and former sheriff Bill Young will co-host the event, a benefit for the Injured Police Officers fund.

It's open to the public for a minimum contribution but RSVPs are required at 702-495-3298.
