LAS VEGAS (AP) - Jury selection has begun for a 24-year-old Saudi Arabian air force sergeant charged with raping a 13-year-old boy in a Las Vegas Strip hotel room.

Aircraft mechanic Mazen Alotaibi has pleaded not guilty to nine felonies. His attorney says the boy tricked Alotaibi into having sex and police violated his rights while he was hung over.

Prosecutors plan to have the boy testify early in the trial.

Both sides say it could take all day to pick 12 jurors and several alternates for an expected 10 days of testimony. Opening statements could begin Friday.

The defense attorney says they haven't decided whether Alotaibi will testify.

Alotaibi could face life in prison if convicted. He is being held at the Clark County jail on $1.72 million bail.
