LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Clark County School District and the teachers' union have reached a tentative contract agreement for 18,000 teachers.
Details of the contract for the 2013-14 school year were not disclosed pending ratification votes by the school board and Clark County Education Association.
Association President Vikki Courtney says the agreement represents "a continuation of the growing collaboration" between the two sides, and the union thinks the deal "will enhance education" for the district's 312,000 students and its teachers.
The two parties tentatively agreed to a one-year contract addressing salaries and working conditions. Both sides also are committed to long-term health care options for all district employees.
Clark County is the nation's fifth-largest school district.
