LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 16-year-old girl tearfully testified about her love for the 45-year-old former kindergarten teacher accused of kidnapping her.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1eTx6vQ) the girl spoke about her relationship with Melvyn Sprowson for two hours at a preliminary hearing on Monday. A judge is expected to rule next week whether Sprowson should go to trial on charges including kidnapping and unlawful use of a minor in production of pornography.
The teen ran away from her home in Henderson on Aug. 28, and was found in good health and living with Sprowson nine weeks later. A day earlier, Sprowson allegedly denied knowing where the girl was.
She testified she and Sprowson planned to marry after she emancipated herself.
The Associated Press is not naming the girl because she's a minor.
