NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - A 17-year-old man was killed and a teenage girl riding in his car critically injured in a two-car crash in North Las Vegas that police say may have been caused by the other driver running a stop sign.
Metro police say the victim was trapped in his Toyota sedan and pronounced dead at the scene about 1 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Goldfield and Washburn.
The girl suffered severe head trauma. She's in critical condition at UMC Trauma.
The preliminary police investigation indicates 18-year-old Douglas Bruce of North Vegas was northbound on Goldfield in his Saturn when he ran the stop sign and hit the Toyota.
He's been booked on charges including failure to obey a traffic sign and use due care.
Police believe alcohol and speed were factors.
