LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 16-year-old with a lengthy juvenile criminal history is charged as an adult in Las Vegas with shooting a 14-year-old boy dead at a birthday party in January.
Ricky Donnell Brown stood Thursday in shackles as a judge set an April 25 hearing to determine if there's enough evidence to send him to trial on a murder and attempted murder charges that could get him life in prison.
Brown was arrested Tuesday and is jailed without bail.
He is accused of killing his friend, Haji Mohamed, and wounding an 18-year-old at a Jan. 12 party in an apartment east of McCarran International Airport.
Brown's appointed attorney, Josh Tomsheck, says he'll plead not guilty.
A public defender told the judge his office represented Brown in 11 previous juvenile criminal cases.
