LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a kindergarten teacher is jailed after police found a missing 16-year-old girl at his southeast Las Vegas home.
Records show that 44-year-old Melvyn Sprowson Jr. was being held Monday at the Clark County jail pending a court appearance on kidnapping, child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a child and obstruction charges.
Clark County school police tell the Las Vegas Sun the girl was found unharmed and in good health after investigators used social media to trace her Friday to Sprowson's home on East Russell Road.
The girl answered the door when police arrived, and said she was at the home willingly. But authorities say she's too young to give consent to live with an adult.
A day earlier, Sprowson allegedly denied knowing where the girl was.
