LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a fugitive who surrendered to police after a standoff at a Las Vegas apartment was sought in the shooting death of an ex-girlfriend three weeks earlier in Northern California.
Police say William Carl Gardner III surrendered to SWAT officers and U.S. marshals a little before 1 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment several miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip.
Another man, a woman and the woman's 3-year-old child came out of the apartment unharmed.
Police didn't immediately say whether Gardner was armed. He's been taken to the Clark County jail.
Officer Jose Hernandez says the woman may face an obstruction charge.
Police in Winters, Calif., say Gardner was sought on murder warrant in the Nov. 18 shooting death of 32-year-old Leslie Pinkston in a car in downtown Winters.
