LAS VEGAS (AP) - A group of employees, former patients and visitors have filed a lawsuit against Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, saying the hospital's actions exposed them to tuberculosis over the summer.
The action Monday comes after a former patient and at least one of her twin babies died of the illness after going undiagnosed.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports eight people are plaintiffs in the suit, which alleges hospital officials didn't maintain proper infection controls and didn't properly respond once they learned the woman had died of TB.
Hospital spokeswoman Gretchen Papez tells the newspaper the institution plans to vigorously defend itself.
An attorney for relatives of the young mother, 25-year-old Vanessa White, tells The Associated Press the family is still preparing its lawsuit and expects to file that in coming months.
