LAS VEGAS (AP) - A fire official says eight elderly residents escaped unhurt from a northwest Las Vegas assisted care home while automatic sprinklers doused a dryer fire.
Fire spokesman Tim Szymanski says Las Vegas and North Las Vegas firefighters were summoned about 2 p.m. Tuesday to the house on Cabin Springs Avenue.
That's near Durango Road and Racel Street - not far from Tule Springs Ranch and Floyd Lamb Park.
Szymanski says the fire was confined to the dryer, with minor smoke damage in the rest of the house.
Damage is estimated at $2,500.
Szymanski says the American Red Cross is helping the residents until the house reopens.
