Six-Year-Old Hit by Bus

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police are investigating a school bus accident in Las Vegas that left a 6-year-old boy hospitalized with serious leg injuries.

Officer Bill Cassell said the boy was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas after he was hit by the bus about 6:40 a.m. Monday on Las Vegas Boulevard North near Cheyenne Avenue.

Cassell corrected earlier reports that the injured child was a girl.

Cassell says the accident happened at a school bus stop, and there was no indication the boy was in a crosswalk.

Investigators are checking whether it was the same bus the boy normally took to school.

The bus driver wasn't immediately identified. Cassell says the driver is cooperating.
