LAS VEGAS (AP) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he's going to help 11 million people who are in the country illegally get right in the eyes of the law.
The Democratic Senator headlined an immigration rally and march Wednesday evening that drew hundreds of demonstrators to busy Las Vegas Boulevard.
The rally pushing for reform included numerous labor groups and came on May Day, which is typically a holiday for workers' rights but has taken on an immigration flavor in the past few years.
Similar demonstrations nationwide aim to push comprehensive immigration reform.
Other speakers included Democratic representatives Steven Horsford and Dina Titus, as well as immigrants who stand to benefit from reform.
An immigration march was scheduled to take place Wednesday in Reno and end with a community picnic.
