LAS VEGAS (AP) - Search teams plan to keep looking for a missing landscape worker and county building department crews are assessing property damage after flash flooding in southern Nevada.
Las Vegas police say they called off their search for 38-year-old Calletano Lopez Wednesday afternoon and planned to resume it Thursday. Lopez was last seen Tuesday afternoon near the Desert Rose Golf Course, and the backhoe he was apparently using was later seen mostly submerged in the floodwaters.
Meanwhile, Clark County's building department was reviewing damage, including an estimated 40 homes affected near the golf course.
County officials say their reports will be forwarded to the state, which may be able to seek federal disaster assistance.
The area's official weather station at McCarran International Airport logged a record 1.18 inches of rain Tuesday.
