LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Henderson SWAT officer whose expensive police SUV went up in flames two weeks ago told investigators he hit a median, but kept driving home after he didn't notice any damage.

A Clark County Fire Department report released Thursday gives more details about the Feb. 27 incident in the southwest Las Vegas valley.

Officer Justin Simo told investigators he got out to check for damage after hitting the median, then continued home until he saw smoke and flames.

Investigators who noted impact damage to the fender, bumper, and rim say the fire likely started because components in the wheel area were altered and overheated.

Firefighters estimated the fire caused $60,000 in loss.

Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said Thursday Simo remains on paid leave, pending an internal investigation
