Repairs Made After Apartment Blast

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Southwest Gas says repairs have been made on a natural gas pipeline that leaked and forced the evacuation of four southwest Las Vegas apartment buildings.

Company spokeswoman Cynthia Messina says about 20 residents may be out of their apartments overnight while the company gets rid of natural gas that built up in the soil on Del Gado Drive.

Messina says the American Red Cross is helping the people who need a place to stay.

Crews fixed the 1-inch service line that sent an odor of natural gas wafting around the complex near Flamingo Road and Decatur Boulevard about 1:30 p.m. Monday.

No injuries are reported. Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin says at least 30 people were asked to leave their homes, and others were prevented from returning home from work.
