LAS VEGAS (AP) - Heavy rain filled storm channels and washed across some roadways in the Las Vegas area, while lightning caused flight delays at busy McCarran International Airport.

Officials closed roads in some parts of Henderson after the National Weather Service says more than 1½ inches of rain fell in a one-hour span Wednesday morning.

At the airport, spokesman Chris Jones says aircraft fueling operations were suspended at times due to area lightning strikes.

The weather service issued a flash flood warning for desert areas of Clark County in Nevada and San Bernardino County in California.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting lots of crashes on Las Vegas-area roads and freeways, but no serious injuries.

NV Energy says 14,000 customers lost power for a while in northeast Las Vegas.
