LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former Nevada corrections officer accused of having a sexual relationship with a female inmate has pleaded guilty to misconduct of a public officer.
Authorities say 52-year-old Eugenio Dimas entered the felony plea Wednesday in Las Vegas. Prosecutors dropped a second charge of voluntary sexual contact between a prisoner and another person in a plea agreement.
Officials say an inmate at the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center tipped them off to Dimas' relationship with 26-year-old convicted child killer Monique Maestas.
Court documents cited by the Las Vegas Review-Journal say Dimas was heard telling Maestas he loved her and wanted to kiss her, and made plans for them to be together in the future.
Officials say Dimas was arrested in February and fired in April. Sentencing is set for Oct. 3.
