LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a 29-year-old man was critically injured after pulling a pellet gun and being shot by police in downtown Las Vegas.
Authorities say their confrontation with Miguel Alejandro Martinez happened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday near Charleston Boulevard and Bruce Street.
Officials say trouble began Wednesday evening, when Martinez's roommate called police to tell them the Martinez had shot at him.
Martinez wasn't at the scene when officers arrived, but returned early Thursday morning.
Las Vegas Police Capt. Chris Jones said that when officers found him, Martinez pulled out a gun that was a replica of a Colt .45 pistol. Jones said it turned out to be a pellet gun.
One officer fired at the suspect, and has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal review.
