LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police are identifying two Las Vegas patrol officers involved in a shootout that left a 31-year-old purse snatching suspect dead after a weekend vehicle chase.

Officers Jeffrey Gentry and Bryce Martines were on paid leave Monday pending investigations of the slaying of Danny Michael Wadsworth Jr. late Friday on Sahara Avenue near Industrial Road

Gentry is 45 and has been a police officer since January 1999.

Martines is 27 and a nearly six-year department veteran.

Police say Wadsworth was killed after opening fire at police who traced the location of a cellphone in a purse stolen from a woman at the Town Square shopping center on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Police reported several crashes during a vehicle chase, including one involving a police vehicle and a compact car on Interstate 15.
