NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Police say a pedestrian struck and killed by a charter bus in North Las Vegas may have been homeless and living in the area.
North Las Vegas police Officer Chrissie Coon says witnesses tell investigators they've seen the man walking in the area before.
Coon says the pedestrian wasn't in a crosswalk when he was hit about 5:30 a.m. Thursday on West Cheyenne Avenue east of Clayton Street.
The bus changed lanes to avoid other vehicles that stopped while the man walked in the street with a wire shopping cart.
That's when the bus struck and killed the man. He wasn't immediately identified.
The driver and seven people on the Ryan's Express bus weren't hurt.
Coon says speed, alcohol and drugs don't appear to be a factor for the driver.
