LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police in Las Vegas are asking for public help to identify several armed robbers believed to be preying on older people opening their garage doors as they return home.
Lt. William Scott told reporters Thursday that at least 10 robberies in and around Las Vegas since July 4 fit the pattern, and they're becoming increasingly violent.
Scott says shots were fired during one robbery on July 8, and an attack on a 79-year-old man on Wednesday left him with a bad cut on his leg when he was forced to the ground.
The Las Vegas Sun reports the robberies have involved one or more men accosting people as they open their garage.
The robbers threaten the victims with a firearm and steal cash and property before fleeing the scene.
