LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say a man who reportedly chased a stranger down a street with an axe before barricading himself in an apartment has been arrested.
Officer Laura Meltzer says the situation was resolved safely about 9 a.m. Thursday, roughly two hours after a female victim called police to report the chase.
Meltzer says the victim had been walking near an apartment complex on Swenson Street when the man approached her. Meltzer says the woman was able to get away unscathed and call police from a safe location.
Officers who arrived on the scene found that the man had barricaded himself in a nearby apartment. Negotiators were called to the scene to try to make contact with the suspect.
