CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A longtime veteran of the Nevada Highway Patrol is getting some new stripes on his uniform.
Capt. Dennis Osborn is being promoted to the rank of major. A ceremony is scheduled Monday in Carson City at the Department of Public Safety headquarters.
Osborn has served with the department for 21 years and joined the NHP as a trooper in 1992. He's served in positions at both ends of the state.
After his promotion Monday he will be assigned as deputy chief of the NHP's southern command area headquartered in Las Vegas. He will oversee daily operations and lead more than 250 sworn and civilian personnel.
Osborn is replacing Maj. Kevin Tice who recently retired.
