LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a 26-year-old man is dead and his two passengers have life-threatening injuries after a Mustang he was driving slammed into a tree.
Authorities say the crash happened a little after 11 p.m. Monday on Cheyenne Avenue, east of Las Vegas Boulevard.
Witnesses tell police the Mustang was driving fast down Cheyenne Avenue when the driver lost control, spun the vehicle and hit a tree in a parking lot.
The three people in the car were thrown out.
Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn't yet been released.
A 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.
The incident marks the 80th traffic-related death in Las Vegas police jurisdiction so far this year.
