LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say they've shut the Clark County Detention Center to social visits after a corrections officer was attacked with a baseball bat.
Las Vegas police say the suspect walked into the security room near the jail lobby about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and went after one of the two officers there with a bat.
Authorities say the officer who was hit was taken to the hospital with injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening.
Officers say the attacker was also taken to the hospital and treated for an unrelated medical issue.
Police say attorneys are still allowed to visit the jail while it's closed to other visitors.
