CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - President Barack Obama is re-nominating a Las Vegas judge for the federal bench in Nevada, but her confirmation remains questionable because of opposition from Republican Sen. Dean Heller.
Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid recommended Clark County District Judge Elissa Cadish for the post, but Heller last year blocked her from receiving a confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Heller questioned her commitment to the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms.
A spokesman for Heller said Thursday that the Senator's views remain unchanged.
Reid last month reiterated his support for Cadish, saying she's highly regarded by the judicial and legal communities.
