CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - President Barack Obama has nominated two Las Vegas lawyers for federal judgeships in Nevada.
The nominations of Jennifer Dorsey and Andrew Gordon were announced Wednesday by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Dorsey is a partner at Kemp, Jones & Coulthard, where she has concentrated on civil appeals, class actions and commercial disputes.
Gordon is a partner at McDonald Carano Wilson. His practice has focused on commercial litigation, including shareholder actions and real estate and title disputes.
Dorsey and Gordon would replace District Judges Kent Dawson and Larry Hicks, respectively. Dawson has already taken senior status and Hicks plans to do so at the end of the year.
Reid says he hopes for swift confirmation of the nominees by the U.S. Senate.
