LAS VEGAS (AP) - The sister of one alleged victim got her first look at a 65-year-old ex-convict facing murder charges in two Las Vegas-area rape-slayings dating from 1978 and 1994.
Connie Bainbridge emerged from a brief court appearance Friday telling reporters she wishes she could ask Nathaniel Burkett what here sister Barbara Ann Cox's last words were.
A Las Vegas judge rescheduled an evidence hearing for Dec. 7.
Burkett faces murder and sex assault charges in the separate rape-strangulations of Cox when she was 22 in April 1978 and 27-year-old Tina Gayle Mitchell in February 1994.
Between those years, Burkett served from 1983 to 1992 in Mississippi prison on a manslaughter conviction.
He served from 2004 to 2009 in Nevada prisons in the September 2002 strangulation of a 41-year-old woman in Las Vegas.
