LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada judge has ruled that a conservative group may collect signatures to place an initiative on the November ballot aimed at banning abortions.

District Judge James Wilson ruled Monday that the Nevada Prolife Coalition must first revise its description of the measure to make it clear that it would affect a broad range of issues, including contraception.

But Wilson did not go so far as to declare the petition invalid, as some pro-abortion groups have claimed.

The Nevada Prolife Coalition must collect more than 72,300 signatures by June to get the measure on the 2012 ballot.

Planned Parenthood and other groups had called on the court to deem the measure illegal, calling it misleading.

They are considering an appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court.
