LAS VEGAS (AP) - About 400 Nevada National Guard members will be among the throngs of people in Las Vegas for New Year's Eve.
But the citizen soldiers aren't there to party. Instead, they are teaming up with Las Vegas police for the 12th annual Vigilant Sentinel Training Exercise.
About 300,000 people are expected in Las Vegas to ring in the New Year.
National Guard members will be stationed at various locations in and around the Las Vegas Strip and helping with security at McCarran International Airport.
The exercise began Sunday and ends Tuesday.
