CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada casinos have pulled in nearly 10 percent more gambling revenue in December compared with the same time last year.
The state Gaming Control Board reports Friday that December casino winnings topped $1 billion. That's up from $943 million in December 2012.
Las Vegas Strip winnings of $664 million were up almost 13 percent year-over-year. Downtown revenues of $42 million were also up 13 percent.
Reno casino winnings of $40 million were down about 1 percent from last December.
South Lake Tahoe casino revenues took a 25 percent dip, dropping to $16 million this December.
The state collected almost $36 million in fees based on the December winnings. That figure is a drop of almost 10 percent from the same time last year.
