LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 26-year-old Las Vegas man who says he slept for about seven hours while babysitting his daughter is now accused in her drowning death.
Authorities say Francisco Vidal will face a charge of child neglect with substantial bodily harm resulting in death. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center Tuesday and is set to appear in court Nov. 13.
Vidal told police he last saw 2-year-old Khloe Ann Vidal the morning of Oct. 17 and napped for the day because he'd been repairing cars all night.
The girl's mother says she returned home in the evening and found him sleeping and Khloe missing.
The toddler was later found in a pool several houses down and pronounced dead at the hospital. Vidal says the front door had been unlocked.
